The fourth ‘big’ prayer for Ukraine will take place on Sunday, 16 February 2025, at 2 pm. This initiative met for the first time on 13 February 2022.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it", a biblical verse from the prologue of John's Gospel - this was the theme of this year's meeting of protestant preachers, the farářský kurz (Ministerial Course) 2025, which took place the last week of January in Prague at the Faculty of Education of Charles University.

The Synodal Council approved a major school construction project at its special meeting. A brand new building is to be constructed in the Prague district of Holešovice. A considerable state subsidy will help with the costly construction. Construction work is due to start this year and the educational institutions - the Bratrská škola (Brethren School) and the Evangelical Academy Prague - are expected to move into the new building in September 2027. 

This year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was opened with an ecumenical service with Cardinal Kurt Koch in Prague. It will take place from 18 to 25 January 2025 and invites people to attend joint services and meetings in many places in the Czech Republic.

On the occasion of the 1000th day since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, the Lutheran World Federation invited the partner churches to an online prayer on 20 November. It was led by Pastor Ireneusz Lukas together with the office of the LWF Church Fellowship. The sermon was delivered by Prof Dr Dmytro Tsolin, pastor of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ukraine.

Synodal Senior Rev. Dr Pavel Pokorný was interviewed by the Lutheran World Federation as part of the European Regions Meeting of the Lutheran World Federation. The topic of the interview, which was also published in English, was Pokorný's path to becoming a parish minister and into church leadership.

17 November is a day that reminds our society of the struggle for freedom. This year marks 35 years since that momentous day.
