Dear Readers,
You may have heard of an unusual phenomenon called the “Stones of the Disappeared” in Czech. In the Bulletin you are now reading, you will find out briefly about how they originated, a little about their history in our country, and the story of one Jewish family whose life was reflected in the stones. But most importantly, you will learn about the meaning of these stones, which is eternal. We are drawing your attention to it because it is connected to one of the ECCB’s congregations in one Czech town.

The second unforgettable event is also tied to WWII and, thanks to its hero, also to our church. We are talking about the story of Václav Morávek, whose persistent and extremely courageous fight against Nazi evil was impossible to win in those terrifying times. However, he remains a victor in our hearts.

And there is more; as always, you will learn about what is going on in our church, but we are also adding information about a new book by our prominent theologian, Professor Pavel Hošek, concerning the remarkable Czech writer, Bohumil Hrabal.

Wishing you all the best also on behalf of the Editorial Board
