April 1, 2026 - Statement of the Ecumenical Council of Churches on the recent attacks on the mosque in Teplice

"The Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Czech Repulic (ERC) has been informed of two hate attacks on a mosque in Teplice, which occurred in quick succession in the second half of March, with the obvious aim of intimidating Muslim believers.

We express our solidarity and support to the Muslim community in Teplice. This community has good relations with local Christians and other citizens, its members work for the benefit of the whole society, e.g. in the healthcare sector.

Places of prayer should be safe. For everyone, whether it is a church, a synagogue or a Muslim prayer room."
