The Synod Council has issued a statement regarding the current situation in Gaza in the Middle East. We are publishing the letter in its entirety.
Dear sisters and brothers,
Together with many in the Church and in society, we share the concern and pain caused by the long-lasting conflict in Israel and Palestine. Our eyes and prayers are fixed on the hostages and their families, as well as on the civilians suffering in Gaza. The earlier statement that we stand with the victims — restoring their dignity and listening to their stories — has, in recent times, acquired a pressing and urgent relevance.
We support all efforts to find ways to get aid directly to those in need and prevent it from being misused. We appeal to those who prevent, complicate, or steal this aid. The humanitarian situation must not become a tool of war.
To help the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, we are sending CZK 250,000 from the Social and Charitable Aid Fund through Caritas Czech Republic, which has a team in Gaza and provides basic health care, medicine distribution, and other forms of direct aid there.
Congregations and individuals can join in by sending their donations by November 4, 2025, to account number 7171717171/2700 with the variable symbol 9111002025. We will then send all these funds for the same purpose.
