The 30th anniversary edition of the Ostrava mini-festival Listopadání will take place on the weekend of 8-10 November 2024 and will offer a varied mix of Christian music, accompanying programmes and opportunities to stop by.
The Ostrava Festival "Listopadání" is traditionally organized by the protestant congregation in Ostrava. This year's edition will offer not only the best of the Czech young and independent musicians: it will welcome bands such as Filip Boháč Experience, Lit Me Up, Rekreace, ROLE, Marjari or Zabelov Group.
The concerts take place in the popular Ostrava clubs Provoz and Dock. Apart from this programme, a church music workshop is also being prepared with the church-wide cantor Ladislav Moravetz, who will also lead the musical accompaniment at the closing Sunday service.
Details about the festival can be found on the website listopadani.evangnet.cz.
The bands performing at this year's edition are mainly strong voices of our local independent scene, moving in the genres of rock and pop.
The band Marjari is the winner of the Starter of the Year 2023 hit parade organized by Radio Wave of the Czech Radio. The strong and heartfelt blend of guitar pop and rock evokes the best feelings of popular music at the turn of the 80s and 90s - vocals and compositions from the era of The Cranberries or No Doubt with a dash of hard, budding grunge.
Rekreace are a new band based out of the band Baro Chandel, presenting their debut work blending genres such as R'n'B, funk, folk, pop, and rock with beautiful, romantic poetry, creating an act unparalleled in the country.
A well-known Czech guitar band of the independent (indie) scene who have released their second fantastic, powerful album full of catchy melodies with distorted guitars underlined by bold rhythms.
Lit Me Up is a young indie band from Frýdek-Místek, slowly releasing their first releases mixing modern popular internet influences that paddle the border of indietronica, folk and or post-rock genres. Hypnotically flowing atmospheric song structures with solid and diverse production create a great impression. Live, however, the band also manages to get really messy and temporarily deafen the eardrums.
The Zabelov Group is a rhythm-based duo of drums and electronically processed accordion creating a unique musical experience of experimental jazz, yet rock and electronica that is hard to find anywhere else.
A unique Czech genre: minister-rock. Filip Boháč, minister of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, presents his rock music with humorous lyrics set in the influences of classic rock and roll performed by a full band.
A unique opportunity to participate in the preparation of church music for the service with church-wide cantor Ladislav Moravetz, a master in his field. As part of the workshop, you can not only participate in the preparation, but also play your instrument or sing in the choir that will perform at the Sunday service on November 10, 2024 at the Protestant "Christ" Church. It is ideal to sign up for this workshop in advance and to play in the service.
