At its 2nd extraordinary session, the 36th Synod adopted the following statement.

The Synod of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren expresses concern regarding the state of public and political discourse in the Czech Republic. We observe growing tension, mutual questioning of legitimacy, and the use of language that transforms political opponents into enemies rather than partners in the pursuit of the common good.
A democratic society relies not only on election results but also on trust in institutions, respect for rules, and a willingness to engage in open dialogue. We therefore consider it essential to safeguard the space for a free exchange of views, the independence of public service institutions, and the existence of free and credible media—media capable of providing information and participating in the public oversight of power, free from political or economic pressure.
It is not our role to evaluate specific political proposals or to align ourselves with individual political parties. As Christians, however, we emphasize the importance of truthfulness, accountability for one’s words, and respect for the dignity of every human being. Wherever manipulation, insults, the incitement of fear, or the division of society prevail, the trust upon which every democratic community is built becomes weakened. We therefore appeal to all those who bear responsibility for public affairs to conduct their political struggle with honor, a sense of responsibility, and respect for those who hold differing views.
We pray for our country, for the wisdom of its leaders, and for the capacity of society as a whole to seek truth, justice, and peace.
